Jungle Jili Con Carne Recipe

Filipino chili: Makes about half a soup pot for 320 pisos.

Add a kilo of ground pork into a soup pot.
Add a third of a clove bulb of diced garlic.
Add 8 finely chopped little Asian chili peppers.
Add 6 diced purple onions.
Add 3 diced red peppers.

Let it cook for a while.

Add 200 grams (1 container) of BBQ sauce.
Add 400 grams (2 containers) of tomato sauce.
Add 1 can of kidney beans.

Add to taste: bay leaves, pepper, salt, Tabasco, mustard powder, oregano, or whatever else in your spice cabinet seems like a logical addition.

Let it cook for a while.

All done.

1/3 of a clove of garlic? Why bother with such a small amount?

I'm guessing that in regard to garlic, a "clove" isn't the entire round thing that can be broken down into 10 or 12 little bits? I just looked up the definition and apparently the word I want is "bulb" of garlic. I'm changing, therefore, "a third of a clove of diced garlic" to "a third of a bulb of diced garlic".

Hi Jil - I've never cooked chili con carne from scratch as I'm using a chili mix which I brought back from the UK and it's running low - so I might try your recipe one day. I've always used ground beef and canned red kidney beans.
