Daily Report: Erroneous Antonomasia

Not too much went on today. A friend of Epril's from here in Jasaan visited with her fianceƩ Patrick O'Brien from Ireland (yes, really). Actually, he is an advisor to the transportation union in London. So we spent much of the afternoon chatting about the attempted privatization of London's rail system. He's also very knowledgeable on Africa, so we talked about that as well.

In the evening, it was off to get drunk in Kimaya with Uncle Bobby, Attorney Carreon, and a fellow who was introduced to me as a judge. I called him "Your Honor" all evening until somebody pulled me aside and told me that "Judge" was just his nickname.

Hello Jil,

I've enjoyed your blog for several months now and have it fed to my google reader.

I'm considering giving re-location to the Philippines a go; and, will be visiting CDO the week after next.

I have been making my living as a daytrader for several years now; and, the my primary concern about becoming an expat is the reliability of an internet connection there. Your blog entries about the power issues this summer have been helpful. Do you also have broadband connectivity problems?

Best Wishes,

Dan

I find the internet here to be surprisingly reliable, considering what I had to deal with in Thailand. However, from what I understand, it is primarily my location that provides me with a clear and close line of sight to the cellular antennas upon which my internet signal is broadcast and received.
