Another Broken Campaign Promise By Obama?

President Obama originally promised to revivify the Freedom of Information Act, and release secret memos crafted by legal counsel for The Bush White House: Memos that could show lots of Executive Branch employees and appointees guilty of some serious charges relating to torture and human rights violations. Now, the new President may be changing his mind about that.

Why? We really didn't know until now.

It turns out that Senate Republicans have threatened to filibuster (i.e. block) each and every person that President Obama wants to appoint to the executive branch if those memos are released. It's like President Obama threatening to veto everything the Senate passes unless Republican Senators fire all of their Senate aides whom he dislikes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Get rid of the filibuster. It's nothing now except an abused and misused tool that hurts government.
