Daily Report: Good Lunch, Not So Good Dinner
Sunday lunch at Kingston Lodge is
a great way to meet the local expat
community in Cagayan De Oro. Price
is 245 pisos.Sunday, as always, is lunch at Kingston Lodge. Epril and I joined Andy and Cynthia Gilbert, Chris and Rhea MacQueen, and then in turn we were joined by Dave and Rose Ferrell, and Dave and Nilda Pebley. I had the roast beef, and Epril had the BBQ ribs.
In the afternoon, I played video games while Epril did her puzzle books.
At 8:00, we decided to go out for dinner. We went to Kinse Amigos, but they are closed on Sundays. However, just as we were pulling up, Mike and Marissa Turner were pulling up as well. So we joined them for dinner at Steve's BBQ... a place that is around the corner from Zax. We had essentially the same meal that we order at Kinse Amigos, but it wasn't as good and was twice the price.
From there, we all wandered down the road a little way to a bar called Lexis, and had a few beers and listened to the band there. I've figured out that Filipinos all play their bar/disco music at the same volume: Always about 10% above what my ears (with a couple of decades of nightclubbing experience) think is right. Thus, their music always winds up with that rash, assaultive feeling to it, instead of washing over you. The round low sounds start to get pummelled by the high tinny sounds, and the voices start to crackle when they should be clear, and everything just starts to sound mushy and prickly at the same time.
Anyway, at about 10:00 we headed home and went to bed.
