Opportunity For Gratuitous Canada Teasing

Oops.
In his interview with NBC's Kelly O'Donnell, which will air on NBC's Nightly News tonight, McCain questions whether Obama should have given a speech in Berlin before becoming president.

"I would rather speak at a rally or a political gathering any place outside of the country after I am president of the United States," McCain told O'Donnell. "But that's a judgment that Sen. Obama and the American people will make."

However, on June 20, McCain himself gave a speech in Canada — to the Economic Club of Canada — in which he applauded NAFTA's successes.
Well... It is Canada after all, which is really just part of America: You know how the grass and manicured shrubbery in some people's back yard ends at a certain point and beyond that is 40 or 50 feet of trees, weeds, brush, overgrowth, and the occasional compost heap and rusty swing-set... but how that area is still part of those people's property? That's kind of what Canada is to America.

Being the token Canadian reading this blog, I have to exclaim "Hey We Resemble That Remark!". Its true that most people when thinking Obama gave a speech in Germany and someone pipes up about McCain in Canada they general reaction will be "But Canada barely counts as a separate country!" And yet its still a real pain to get over the border even into Pt. Roberts which barely counts as the US. Pt. Roberts is part of Washington State, but in order to reach it by land you have to enter Canada to do it. But yet you still get the rough treatment like you get at any Canada US border.

Well, the rabbit who lives out behind the old water-filled tire covered in moss underneath the swing-set doesn't receive a much warmer welcome when he comes into the yard to eat the gardenias. ;-)

Canada is indeed a seperate country.
Feel fortunate that you get to enjoy the 'rough' treatment that the gestapo guarding the swiss cheese borders get to dish out.
