You are absolutely right, Dago. A very large portion of overseas Filipinos are working in Dubai, especially as welders.
There are so many in fact that there was a soap opera on TV here in the Philippines about people working in Dubai. Obviously it showed life there as being rosy and prosperous, which I doubt is the case.
As of 2006, 8.2 million Filipinos (25% of the country's workforce) are living and working overseas.
...and quite a few of them are in my hometown -- Daly City, California!
