Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House on January 3, 2003. Harry Reid became Senate Majority Leader on January 3, 2007.
The only spending on the video in this blog post that Democrats (and Pelosi/Reid) were responsible for was TARP, which was a bailout written and advanced by Republican President Bush... and don't forget that one third of all Republicans voted for it (and more than one third of all Democrats voted against it): Vote.
Bush Era Tax Cuts adding $3.3 Trillion to the debt? Vote #1 in 2001: Republicans wrote the plan, advanced the plan, voted for the plan. Democrats voted against the plan. Vote #2 in 2003: Republicans wrote the plan, advanced the plan, voted for the plan. Democrats voted against the plan.
The Medicare Part D adding $1.2 Trillion to the debt? Again, same thing, Republicans wrote the plan, advanced the plan, voted for the plan. Democrats voted against the plan.
I seriously doubt, Tomm, that you have simply forgotten (or have somehow actually convinced yourself) that Democrats are responsible for the massive debt that was run up over the last decade. Republicans, and President Bush especially, did that. But seriously: Why engage in sophistry and deflection regarding what the Republicans did? Stop trying to blame Democrats for this when I can put up link after link after link after link showing that it was, again and again, Republicans who wrote the plans, advanced the plans, voted for the plans. And Democrats who voted against the plans.
Nancy Patricia D'Alesandro Pelosi[1] ( /pəˈloʊsi/; born March 26, 1940) is the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives and served as the 60th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.
I was using her Wikipedia page and looked at first at "January 4, 2007", and then looked back and typed in the "January 3, 2003" date just above it instead. Thanks for the correction.
you know what else happen at same time of the uptick? Nancy and Harry took over congress! And ALL spending begins in CONGRESS.
