Why You Don't Get Into Fights With Thai People

A foreign guy spoiling for a fight in a Bangkok bar gets knocked out cold. From the video, it certainly looks like he deserved it. One thing to note though if you aren't familiar with Thailand: If you aren't in a muay thai boxing ring, this is how every fight in the country goes down; sucker punches and getting jumped from behind are a 100% hard and fast rule... not the exception. I've never seen a one-on-one fight there, and doubt that there has ever been one in Thailand's history.

Hat tip to Eric for the link.

  2. You're not a fan of Thailand any more heya, Jil. Bet you can find the exact same movie, but then set in a Philippine bar.

  3. I've always been snarky about Thailand and stupid tourists. See my old blog: It was made up entirely of me pointing out the inanities of Thailand and the people who visit her.

Thailand is the most dangerous major tourist destination on earth based on the number of tourists killed, injured, hospitalized, and arrested there each year. That doesn't mean that tourists don't get in trouble in other countries, but it doesn't happen nearly so often elsewhere as Thailand.

As for whether or not the "fighting style" of Thailand compares to that of The Philippines, I am not sure as I have not seen a fight here yet. I wouldn't be surprised if it was though.

  4. The video didn't show them going thru his pockets, then the police showing up to get their payday also.
But, the guy was in the wrong; problably drunk. The kick to the head and punch while KO'd by the bystander was typical.
Why are the English such horrish drunks?
