The Truth Keeps Coming Out

Now there is a book coming out which documents how, via the CIA, before the Iraq war, the White House helped Saddam Hussein's intelligence chief (a man named Habbush) escape Iraq before the invasion, and then paid him $5 million to write a letter backdated to July of 2001 to Saddam Hussein documenting how chief 9-11 hijacker Mohammed Atta received his training in Iraq.

In case that hasn't sunk in: (There is a book coming out that claims) The White House paid a guy $5 million to create false evidence that showed Iraq was connected to the 9-11 attacks.

We can all bitch about what a lubricious bastard Bill Clinton was, but George "I'll restore honor and integrity to the White House" Bush and the evil group of people he surrounded himself with is simply on a whole different order of magnitude. This book (if true) is just one more fact brought to light which confirms it.

I have a feeling that history has only begun to reveal the true and hideous depravity that the Bush administration committed while in office. They took advantage of their country's trust, abused their power, damaged the nation, and caused more unnecessary death and destruction than any administration ever before.

I'll stick this other news item in here as well. This blog is getting filled with political posts! Well: (a) It is election season, and (b) my life and location isn't as exciting and blogworthy as it was back in Thailand, so the balance will obviously skew.

Anyway, Time Magazine writes about Obama's claim (and McCain's scoffing thereof) that keeping your tires filled to the proper pressure and your car tuned is a nifty way to start saving gas right now:
The Bush Administration estimates that expanded offshore drilling could increase oil production by 200,000 bbl. per day by 2030. We use about 20 million bbl. per day, so that would meet about 1% of our demand two decades from now. Meanwhile, efficiency experts say that keeping tires inflated can improve gas mileage 3%, and regular maintenance can add another 4%. Many drivers already follow their advice, but if everyone did, we could immediately reduce demand several percentage points. In other words: Obama is right.

McCain is for drilling and Obama is for properly inflated tires. You know personally I would like for our country to finally have a COMPRENSIVE National energy policy which would address all facets of energy. From educated the public about conservation (properly inflated tires etc), developing renewable energy, fixing the futures/speculation markets, and using the resources we have within our borders (drilling) address all these issues together is the only solution.

When will McCain/Obama stop using this incredibly important issue as a wedge issue and start actually trying to create a National Policy? Let me guess....after the election?

Bottom line, their both right and both wrong. When it come to an energy policy it has to address everything. I wish Obama would get off his knees and stop blowing the environmental wackos on this issue and start leading the country on this issue.

"This book (if true) is just one more fact brought to light which confirms it."

The Way of the World author Ron Suskind. Suskind has written numerous articles and two other books...all of which are critical to the current administration. His bias towards the current administration are will documented in his writings.

Unfortunately, this book was written to sell and make money...not to provide "fact" or "confirm" anything.

Obviously, the administration and the CIA have denied the allegations brought up in the book (that shouldn't surprise anybody).

There is no new evidence detailed...just allegations of wrongdoing. Books like this are good at that...highlights allegations that can not be proven (or dis-proven). But I am certain this guy will sell some books and make some money. Then start this process all over again. That is what he does for a living.

Could the allegations in this book be true? Yes, but we will never know for certain.

Yes, the Pickens plans as much potential. Politically, I do not know if it ever would be implemented as a National Policy though. It amazes me that private persons/entities can come up with comprehensive short/long term plans but our elected officials can not. I guess the elected officials first have to think about the special interests groups that got them elected first and foremost.

Big oil has been tearing apart this plan for awhile now (I guess that mean republicans will not support it). I am not even certain if the big environment groups would support it. The thing I hate most about the environment groups is when you hear them they talk about this magical re-newable power that does not pollute and is cheap and clean.....sounds great, but nothing like that exists at the level they are talking about right now. The technologies is not there. Those groups refuse to come up with a short team plan using what we currently have.

In the Pickens Plan, Pickens admits that this is just a "Bridge the gap" plan that would be used for the next 30 years, after that we would switch to fusion or electric.

I personally would like to see us start looking at Nuclear option also. In Europe they have been building/using nuclear plants for energy and have advanced that technology....it as come a long way since the problems of the 70/80s. But again environment groups will never allow another nuclear plant to be build (without at least a ten year battle in the courts). Those groups live in the past and refuse to acknowledge that nuclear as come a long way. Plus, there is waste material made at those plants....and that is unacceptable to those groups. Apparently, the coal factories we have spewing out thousands of tons of waste into the air is no problems.

Thanks, I will keep watching the pickens plans to see what happens with it.
